1. Profile of the Department of Botany: In view of lively rural surrounding andrich diversity of plants there had been a candid demand for opening Botanydepartment in Govt. Kamla Devi Girl’s P.G. College and therefore in 1987formally the Botany branch was opened. Since then the Department of Botany hasbeen enrolled for only general stream of course. From the academic session of2013-14, the department was upgraded to Post Graduate level of teaching underPt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur (CG) and now it is under HemchandYadav University, Durg (CG) from academic session 2017-18.

Ø To introduce enrichment programmes inEnglish to improve English of students
Ø To impart of knowledge of botanicalscience among students we want to make documentation of medicinal plants todevelop scientific attitude in the students so as to make them open minded, curiousand rational as basic objectives of education
Ø To develop the analytical skills andpractical knowledge by using plant material with the help of field visits,equipments, instruments along with the collection, analysis and interpretationof scientific data obtained in the plant science
Ø To promote the students for researchactivity and presentation of their work apart from the syllabus

Ø We organize paper wise seminar by PPTfor each student of Post Graduate classes

Ø We organize one day study tour for PostGraduate students, where they learn the techniques of plant identification andthey collects plant materials also for practical work and herbarium preparation
Ø We organize guest lecture for PostGraduate students
Ø Due to lack of space, equipments andmaterials facility in lab for practical work, we designed alternative practicalsfor Post Graduate students based on their syllabus
Ø We organize plantation programme for bothUnder Graduate and Post Graduate students yearly
Ø We organized plantation programme forB.Sc. II year students in which they planted only Gymnospermic plants based ontheir project work of syllabus
Ø We organized plant exhibition comecompetition based on “Best of Waste” for B.Sc. II year and M.Sc. II Sem.students
Ø We organized Awareness Programme comecompetition for Plant Diseases and Prevention for M.Sc. IV Sem. students
Ø We organized two days departmental workshopon Biofertilizer Preparation from domestic waste materials for Post Graduatestudents

18. Library: students access the college library.The department does not have any library for under graduate students but thecomplementary copies of books of different publishers are provided from thedepartmental library for the use of post graduate students.
